Personality: In a lot of ways Kai is very similar to Clyde (Wire) on a lot of levels. Kai is a very nice, gentle, down to earth person, who just likes to surf. He is friendly towards everyone he meets, and does not stand for bullying or crime. Although he hates bullies, he is ironically friends with Kevin Pivot, who has a history of bullying others (Kai does not spend enough time around Kevin to know this).

Biography: Kai is a native of Honolulu, Hawaii. Coming from Hawaii, he has always been around surfing, water, and the waves; it was for this reason he wanted to learn how to surf. His grandfather, a renowned surfer, gave Kai his first surfboard at age five (the same board he uses today) and taught him how to surf. After two years of surfing, at the age of seven, Kai’s grandfather passed away and Kai promised to become a better surfer to make his grandfather proud. After his grandfather passed, his family packed up and moved to Shield City a year later. Since coming to Shield City, Kai has done nothing but surf on the daily basis, increasing his surfing abilities to the peak, in order to keep that promise he has made to his grandfather. Now, at the age of 16, Kai is on the verge of going pro.

Likes: Kai enjoys surfing, working out, swimming, music, surf competitions, and hanging out at the beach. But when he turns into Tar, he only likes to destroy things around him.

Dislikes: Criminals, bullies (ironically he is friends with Kevin), failing, being controlled by his inner beast (Tar), not being able to surf, homework, and studying.

Powers: Kai doesn't have any specific powers, but his alter ego (Tar) does. As Tar, he wields the power of lava. He can heat his body up to 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit, he can throw and blast lava at his opponents, he can fire molten rocks from any part of his body, and he can combine the lava and molten rocks together to create tar, which he uses to stick people to objects. He can also change the temperature of his attacks from 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit to a low of 85 degrees Fahrenheit.
